Abuja: The General Authority for Communications and Informatics participated in the 7th Plenipotentiary Conference of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), held in Abuja, Nigeria. The conference saw the adoption of the Union's strategic and financial plan and the election of its Secretary-General for the upcoming term. According to Libyan News Agency, the Libyan delegation was headed by Rafiq Al-Janjan, Director of the Authority's Experts Office, and included Osama Abu-Azza, Head of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Follow-up Unit at the International Cooperation Office. The conference discussed the ITU's final report and adopted its strategic and financial plan, as part of efforts to develop the telecommunications sector and promote digital transformation in Africa. On the sidelines of the conference, the Libyan delegation held bilateral meetings with several participating delegations to discuss strengthening cooperation in the fields of communications and informatics and to garner supp ort for Libya's candidacy for membership in the ITU Council. The Authority's participation is part of its efforts to enhance Libya's presence in regional and international forums, and to expand partnerships that support the development of the communications and information technology sector and support the digital transformation process.
