Civil society organizations call for resumption of the constitutional chamber of the Supreme Court

Tripoli-A number of civil society organizations and members of trade unions organized a vigil before noon on Sunday to protest continued closure of the constitutional chamber of the Supreme Court. They demanded in a statement read out in front of the building of the Supreme Court in Tripoli activating the constitutional chamber of the Supreme Court, overturning the extension decision, and not to disrupt the judiciary and keep it away from conflicts.

The protesters raised banners calling for an honest judiciary and legal elections, some of which read: “Closing the Constitutional Court means holding elections without laws”, “Our demand is the state of law and institutions” and “No state without an impartial judiciary.” The Supreme Court has suspended the constitutional chamber since 2016.
