Doha: The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) participated in the second meeting of the Arab Preparatory Group for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26), organized on the sidelines of the Global Forum for Regulators (GSR-25) in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3, 2025.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting focused on the most important topics and preparations for the Arab region ahead of the PP-26 conference, which is scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from November 9 to 27, 2026. Key discussions revolved around coordinating Arab positions on regulatory issues, nominations, and development policies related to the telecommunications sector.
During its intervention, the CITRA delegation emphasized the importance of unifying Arab visions and coordination among member states to ensure effective representation of the Arab region in ITU’s decision-making processes. The delegation reiterated Libya’s commitment to actively contributing to joint Arab efforts in this domain.
This participation highlights CITRA’s increasing role at both regional and international levels, reflecting its ongoing efforts to bolster Libya’s standing among policy-making entities in the communications and information technology sectors.
