Baghdad: The Canadian government began military emergency measures to evacuate 45,000 of its diplomats and nationals in Lebanon, amid fears of the outbreak of war between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah.

According to Israeli Channel 12, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie informed this decision to her Israeli counterpart, Yisrael Katz, and sent military forces to the region to help evacuate Canadians from Lebanon in the event of war breaking out.

Jolie said in a statement on the X platform, ‘The security situation in southern Lebanon remains volatile and unpredictable, due to violence and severe fuel shortages, which may affect private transportation and the Canadian government’s ability to evacuate citizens when necessary.’

The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently advised Canadians to avoid traveling to Lebanon due to the deteriorating security situation and armed tension with Israel.
