British Ambassador Martin Longden Visits Misrata for Municipal Talks

Misrata: The British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, recently visited the Misrata Municipality, where he engaged in discussions with the mayor and members of the municipal council.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Misrata Municipal Council announced on its official page that Ambassador Longden’s visit aimed to strengthen relations and foster joint cooperation. The discussions centered around exchanging views on the current situation in Libya and addressing several local challenges faced by the city.

During the meeting, the British Ambassador acknowledged Misrata’s significant role and its historical, economic, and commercial importance both nationally and regionally. Mayor Mahmoud Al-Suqotri highlighted the importance of supporting decentralization and involving municipal councils in political dialogues, citing their proximity to citizens and their capability in representing local interests.

The meeting further underscored the significance of enhancing cooperation between Misrata Municipality and other municipalities across Libya. Additionally, the discussions touched upon the United Kingdom’s role in supporting stability in Libya and the surrounding region.
