Benghazi Book Fair Explores Intersection of Literature, Technology, and Culture

Benghazi:The fifth edition of the Benghazi International Book Fair is showcasing a diverse cultural and literary program organized by the Cultural Committee, aiming to connect literature, technology, and identity. The event features established literary figures and young talents, delving into themes such as literature, identity, digital media, and artificial intelligence.

According to Libyan News Agency, Rehab Shanib, head of the fair’s Cultural Committee, highlighted the theme "Generations Meet and Visions Renew," emphasizing the discovery of young literary voices. The program aims to revitalize the cultural landscape and open new opportunities for emerging talent, exploring shifts in literary trends such as the youth's growing interest in novel writing over poetry.

The program includes discussions and sessions with writers, intellectuals, and critics, including Dr. Ghalia Al-Dara’ani and Mohamed Al-Maslati, as well as book signings from authors like Salem Al-Hindawi. Additionally, the event addresses cultural identity and the Marrakesh Treaty on the rights of the visually impaired.

With a focus on artificial intelligence, discussions cover its impact on media and culture, ethics, and creative writing. The program also explores the city’s cultural memory, journalism issues, and the publishing crisis in Libya. Children's activities are a significant part, promoting critical thinking and engagement through storytelling and workshops.

Shanib concluded by stating that the committee's goal is to transcend traditional literary activities and foster cultural interaction.
