The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdullah Batili, briefed the President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad al-Manfi, about his recent meetings with a number of Libyan parties.

According to the media office of the Presidency Council, “Batili” valued, during his meeting today, Sunday, with Al-Manfi, the partnership with the Presidency Council, pointing to the importance of the cooperation of all Libyan parties, to develop consensual laws that can be applied to lead to free and transparent elections, stressing that the mission is ready to work with the Council and other Libyan parties to improve the legal framework for elections, and bring all parties together to reach consensus on the various tracks.

For his part, “Al-Manfi” welcomed the efforts of the mission, stressing the need for the main parties to agree and come out with a general, consensual, non-exclusionary framework that leads to holding the elections that the Libyans seek and ending the successive transitional stages.
