Tripoli, The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Abdullah Batili, expressed his pleasure to attend the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers today in Tripoli, considering that the meeting is an expression of solidarity with the Libyan people and their support in their endeavors to build a future, and enjoy peace and prosperity.

Batili pointed out in a tweet on his Twitter account that (more than a year ago, more than (2.8) million Libyans were registered in the electoral lists, and this, if anything, indicates the will and determination of the Libyans to choose their representatives, restore the legitimacy of their institutions, and crack their path towards stability through a democratic political process).

He said, “I called on all Libyan parties to work together to find ways to overcome their differences so that Libya can – once again – play its leading role as an African and Arab country, as part of the Mediterranean basin, and as an active member within the United Nations family.”

Batili concluded his tweet by calling on all international parties, including Libya’s neighboring countries, to unite their word and step up their support for Libya in order to help the country get out of this protracted crisis.
