The Kingdom of Bahrain will mark the International Workers’ Day (Labour Day) on May 1, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The Bahrain Free Labor Unions Federation (Al Hurr) and the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) will hold two ceremonies respectively on April 30 and May1.

HM the King deputized the Minister of Labour Jameel bin Muhammed Ali Humaidan to attended both ceremonies and honour a batch of outstanding workers, who were nominated by Al Hurr and the GFBTU, in recognition of their devotion in different sectors.

The minister hailed the royal patronage which, he said, represents a tribute to Bahrain in different sectors and in recognition of the values of work and in different development tracks.

In a statement on this occasion, Humaidan praised HM the King’s care for the industrious workforce, which represents the real wealth for the development and prosperity of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He highlighted Bahrain’s tangible strides in providing a safety net for workers and safeguarding their rights through advanced national legislations that comply with the International labour standards.

“Bahrain applies laws that contribute to promoting a safe work environment that reduces the risks of accidents and occupational diseases to ensure the safety of workers, in addition to adopting best practices aimed at sustaining the stability and growth of the labor market through continuous encouragement of tripartite social dialogue between production parties”, he said.

These strides, he said, have turned Bahrain into one of the most competitive countries in the field of attracting entrepreneurs, noting the Kingdom’s work environment and commitment to furthering labor gains.

The minister congratulated all workers in Bahrain on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, stressing the government’s appreciation for the workforce in various productive sectors and its continuous contributions to the comprehensive development process.
