Gregoire Ndjaka, Chief Executive Officer of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), voiced support for TRT, Trkiye’s public broadcaster, Africa. Speaking at the “1st Broadcasting Summit” organized by AUB and TRT, Ndjaka pointed out developing relations between Trkiye and African countries. “With the summit, TRT opened its doors to Africa. We wholeheartedly support TRT Africa.” Underlining that they have something to say as Africans, Ndjaka said that they want TRT to reflect Africa as it is and accurately in their broadcasts, unlike other foreign media outlets. “We are pleased to have TRT among our members. At this point, we are establishing a new cooperation in the field of broadcasting.” He added that as AUB, they will provide Trkiye with a one-minute free advertisement to be screened all over the continent, stressing these broadcasts will contribute to Trkiye’s image in Africa. “As African journalists, we would like to thank (Turkish) President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for contributing to the development of relations with Africa and for his love for Africa. Because if you do not love a continent, you would not be in that continent and not visit it.” Trkiye has millions of African brothers, Ndjaka noted, expressing his condolences for those who lost their lives in the twin earthquake last month. Trkiye’s Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Mehmet Zahid Sobaci, the director general of TRT, also made the opening speeches at the summit, and TRT Africa started its broadcasting life.
