Association of Libyan Parties pledges in a code of honor signed today to work united to prevent foreign intervention, comply with results of elections, and respect the will of the people.

Tripoli, A number of Libyan parties have pledged to work united to prevent foreign interventions in internal political affairs, comply with election results, respect people’s will, preserve the sovereignty of the nation and the unity of its soil, and to make efforts to achieve national reconciliation and support the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections on set time, December 24th. In a meeting held at the Bab al-Bahr Hotel in Tripoli on Saturday, the Libyan parties signed a code of honour, in which they pledge to work to find a constitution to be agreed upon by Libyans, reject existence of any military wing of any political party, stay away from regionalism and tribalism, reject division and push women and youth to take the top positions in power in service of the interests of the nation, and reject extremism and terrorism and to restrict its confrontation to the state organs.

The charter, which was attended by the Minister of Economy and Trade, included Mohammed Al Hweij included a representative of the state and a number of party leaders called for honest competition in order to implement policies that will serve the citizens and push citizens to run for president and parliament and build and prepare human and institutional capacities.

The president of the Association of Libyan Parties, Bashir Rajab, said in a statement to the Libyan News Agency that the Association of Libyan Parties came in order to unify the national goal of the Libyan parties and work to embody the national cohesion and to save Libyan blood and contribute to employ resources, capabilities and competencies of the qualified to contribute to the building of the state in all fields.

On the conditions for joining the association, Rajab explained, including that the party leader must not carry more than one nationality and not to be found to have obtained external funding or registered his bias towards non-national orientations. The parties that signed the charter during the meeting were: The Free National Congress, the Civil Democratic Party, the Constitution Party, the Libyan Future Movement Party, the Libyan Future Movement party and others.
