Tripoli: Army units of the 444 Combat Brigade have arrested more than 300 illegal migrants attempting to cross the desert en route to the sea.
According to Libyan News Agency, the brigade’s media office announced that those apprehended will be handed over to the competent authorities. The office emphasized that its desert patrols, operating in the central region of the Libyan desert, will persist in their efforts to obstruct the smuggling routes exploited by traffickers and outlaws.
The operation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Libyan authorities in controlling illegal migration and trafficking across the vast desert region. The 444 Combat Brigade has intensified its surveillance and intervention measures as part of a broader strategy to curb the flow of migrants seeking to reach the Mediterranean and beyond.
By enhancing patrol activities, the brigade aims to dismantle smuggling networks and maintain security in the area, reflecting Libya’s commitment to tackling illegal migration and associ
ated criminal activities. The actions of the 444 Brigade are part of a larger national and international effort to address the complex dynamics of migration in the region.
