An Iraqi-Iranian Agreement On A Mechanism Of Entry Of Visitors Through Al-Mundhiriya Border Crossing During The Arbaeen Visit

The Iraqi and Iranian sides agreed to set up a mechanism to organize the entry of Iranian visitors through a border crossing northeast of Baquba, the center of Diyala Governorate, during the Arbaeen visit to the city of Karbala.

Major General Sherko Al-Jaf, director of al-Mundhiriya border crossing, told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) correspondent: “An agreement took place between the Iraqi and Iranian sides on a mechanism and plan for organizing the entry of Iranian visitors to perform the Arbaeen visit.”

He added, “The agreement included the entry of Iranian visitors through al-Munthiriya crossing over a twenty-four-hour instead of 12 hours, in addition to adopting a joint security and service plan to ensure the smooth entry of visitors,” expecting that “the Iranian visitors will begin arriving towards Karbala and through al-Munthiriya border crossing next week.
