Algerian and Egyptian Leaders Deliberate on Libya Situation

Tripoli: Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed developments in Libya and several regional and international issues during a phone call, according to a statement issued by the Algerian Presidency on Thursday.

According to Libyan News Agency, the statement explained that the call provided an opportunity to address the situation in Libya and to emphasize the need to work towards overcoming the current difficult situation.

The call also covered the distinguished bilateral relations between Algeria and Egypt, as well as the latest developments in Palestine, the Middle East, the Gulf, and the Arab world. Both presidents stressed the importance of promoting peaceful solutions to address the various conflicts and tensions in the region.

According to the statement, President Sisi expressed his condolences and solidarity, on behalf of himself and the Egyptian people, government, and institutions, following the fires in Algeria that resulted in casualties.

The statement added that the two presidents agreed, at the end of the telephone call, to hold a meeting soon.
