Tripoli: Minister of Planning in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Zaidani, met with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, Ulrika Richardson, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the United Nations and Libya for sustainable development.
According to Libyan News Agency, the two sides agreed on the need to strengthen Libya's access to global climate finance and adaptation, and to better link international initiatives with national and local efforts. They also discussed the contribution of UN specialized agencies to supporting development in Libya, particularly ongoing national initiatives in the areas of food security and job creation.
The Deputy Special Representative and Resident Coordinator welcomed Libya's growing focus on development, reiterating the UN's commitment to providing coordinated technical expertise and institutional capacity building in support of Libyan-led sustainable development across the country.
