Tripoli: Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, held a meeting with the British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, to discuss international cooperation aimed at bolstering the electoral process in Libya.
According to Libyan News Agency, the dialogue focused on the Commission’s preparedness to facilitate the second round of municipal council elections scheduled for 2025. The discussions underscored the necessity of establishing suitable conditions to ensure the electoral process meets the aspirations of Libyan citizens.
During the meeting, Ambassador Longden commended the Commission’s efforts in preparing for the municipal council elections. He conveyed the UK’s appreciation for the progress made thus far and confirmed the UK government’s willingness to offer technical and advisory support. This support aims to enhance the Commission’s capability to carry out elections in a manner that upholds integrity and transparency.
