Al-Menfi Reviews Flintlock 2026 Outcomes and Supports Military Unification

Tripoli: The Head of the Presidential Council and Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Al-Menfi, met with Major General Abdul Salam Al-Zoubi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense for Military Regions, to discuss the outcomes of the Flintlock 2026 Exercise. This meeting, held in the presence of the (3+3) Committee, focused on Libya's role and participation in the exercise.

According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Menfi emphasized that Libya's involvement in Flintlock 2026 aligns with official initiatives aimed at organizing security and military frameworks. These efforts are part of his communications with the UN Security Council, particularly in line with Security Council Resolution 2769 (2025), which addresses military training and the unification of military and security institutions.

Exercise Flintlock, organized by the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), is a significant annual military exercise on the African continent. This year, it is taking place in Libya and C´te d'Ivoire. The exercise has seen participation from units of the Libyan Army, marking a notable development in Libya's military engagements after previous iterations in other countries.
