Al-Menfi Engages with French Envoy on Libyan Political Developments

Tripoli: President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, conducted a meeting at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli with Paul Soler, the Special Envoy of the French President. The discussion centered on the evolving political landscape in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, the French envoy conveyed greetings from President Emmanuel Macron and commended President Menfi’s efforts in managing the transitional phase while maintaining political and security equilibrium in the country. The dialogue included an assessment of current political developments and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya’s (UNSMIL) plan to assist Libya’s political transition. Emphasis was placed on ensuring success through close collaboration with national institutions and fostering a comprehensive national consensus.

Further, the meeting addressed President Menfi’s initiative for a comprehensive financial audit, which France commended as a critical step towards transparency and the establishment of good governance. Concluding their discussions, both parties highlighted the importance of strengthening Libyan-French bilateral relations and enhancing joint coordination on matters of shared interest.
