Al-Menfi and AU Commission Chair Discuss Strengthening Libya-African Union Relations

Tripoli:The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, welcomed the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmod Ali Youssouf, at the Council's headquarters. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State for African Affairs, Fathallah Al-Zani. According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing the partnership between Libya and the African Union, aiming to elevate their cooperation to new levels. Discussions included Libya's role in joint African initiatives and the alignment of positions on regional and international issues. Key topics included the national reconciliation process in Libya and developments across the continent. The AU Commission Chair praised Libya's efforts in reconciliation and reiterated support for the process, highlighting the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation. The meeting also addressed challenges such as irregular migration, human trafficking, and terrorism, emphasizing a joint African strategy for security and stability. Al-Menfi s tressed the need for ongoing political dialogue and coordination with the African Union to reinforce Libya's role within its institutions and uphold African solutions that respect sovereignty and territorial integrity.
