Al-Kelani and UNICEF Discuss Strengthening Child Protection Programs

Tripoli: Minister of Social Affairs, Wafa Al-Kelani, met today, Wednesday, with the Regional Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to discuss ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the field of child protection and the development of social welfare services in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting addressed joint programs and projects between the Ministry and UNICEF, particularly those related to child protection and supporting the most vulnerable families, in addition to efforts to develop the social protection system and improve the quality of services provided to target groups, as well as training and capacity-building programs for social workers and those working in the childhood sector.

Al-Kelani emphasized the importance of the existing partnership with UNICEF in supporting child protection programs and implementing relevant national plans, stressing the need to expand areas of cooperation to positively impact children and families in various regions.

The UNICEF Regional Director renewed the organization's commitment to continue supporting the Ministry of Social Affairs' programs and strengthening joint cooperation to develop services for children and achieve more effective results in the next phase.
