Al-Dabaiba Highlights Crucial Role of Libyan Banks in Economic Revival and Housing Projects

Tripoli: Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba emphasized the significant role of commercial banks in financing housing projects and supporting the national economy. He affirmed his government’s commitment to removing obstacles and providing essential support for implementing housing projects and vital investment initiatives, promoting sustainable development and supporting citizens.

According to Libyan News Agency, this statement was made during an expanded meeting held to assess the efforts of the Central Bank of Libya and commercial banks in supporting the government’s plan to revitalize the economy and finance housing projects. The meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister’s office in Tripoli, focused on the role of banks in stimulating the economy, particularly through support for real estate and investment projects. It also involved participation in the Prime Minister’s initiative to complete and implement 150,000 housing units and provide the necessary financial tools to ensure its success.

During the meeting, Faisal Bin Dardaf, Director General of the National Housing and Real Estate Development Program, reviewed the progress made on proposed financing mechanisms aimed at strengthening the housing sector and facilitating access to financing for vital projects. The attendees agreed to hold a subsequent meeting to finalize the financing mechanisms in accordance with the vision of the government and the Central Bank, ensuring an effective financing environment that supports housing initiatives and stimulates the national economy.

The meeting was attended by Central Bank of Libya board member Reda Gargab, the general managers of Republic Bank, North Africa Bank, Al Wafa Bank, and the Libyan Foreign Bank, as well as the general manager of the Savings and Real Estate Investment Bank and the general manager of the National Housing and Real Estate Development Program.
