Al-Baour Engages in Strategic Dialogue with UNSMIL to Boost Cooperation

Tripoli: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, along with directors of relevant departments at the ministry, convened a meeting with Stephanie Khoury, the Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), and the Deputy Special Representative for Humanitarian Affairs. This meeting, held today, involved heads of UN international organizations operating in Libya, focusing on strategies to enhance joint cooperation between Libya and the United Nations.

According to Libyan News Agency, the ministry shared via its official Facebook page that discussions centered on supporting Libyan efforts in the humanitarian and development sectors. The dialogue also explored mechanisms to enhance coordination of joint actions to ensure the effectiveness of programs provided to citizens.

During the discussions, Al-Baour highlighted the significant role of the United Nations and its organizations in fostering stability and development within Libya. He emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts to achieve common goals, particularly in delivering humanitarian aid and supporting reconstruction plans.

UN representatives, in turn, expressed their appreciation for the ongoing collaboration with the Libyan side. They affirmed their commitment to continuing support for efforts aimed at enhancing security and sustainable development in Libya, aligning with national interests.
