Tripoli: The person in charge of running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, reiterated Libya’s firm and supportive position on the Palestinian cause and its support for the Lebanese people.
In a speech today, Monday, during his participation in the ninth session of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean countries in Barcelona, ??Al-Baour stressed the need to provide immediate international protection for the Palestinian and Lebanese people, especially in light of the escalating Israeli violations in Gaza and Lebanon, calling on the international community to take urgent action to stop these violations and provide the necessary humanitarian assistance.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Baour stressed the importance of finding a just and permanent political solution to the Palestinian issue based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative emanating from the Ara
b Summit in 2002, including the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The person in charge of running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the decision of Spain and Slovenia to recognize the State of Palestine, considering it an important step towards supporting the rights of the Palestinian people.
