Tripoli: The Chairman of the House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee, Youssef Al-Aqouri, convened with an official delegation from South Sudan to explore strategies for enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the religious, cultural, and educational sectors. The discussions aimed at bolstering coordination between official institutions and advancing relations to serve mutual interests.
According to Libyan News Agency, this meeting took place during Al-Aqouri's reception of a delegation led by Abdullah Burj Rawal, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Council and representative of South Sudan's Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Al-Aqouri emphasized the strong fraternal ties between Libya and South Sudan and highlighted the significance of expanding cooperation to support security, stability, and development in Africa, thereby reinforcing the common interests of both nations.
The spokesperson for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blihaq, stated that the meeting focused on exploring prospects for developing cooperation and enhancing coordination on issues of mutual interest. This reflects the commitment of both countries to elevate their bilateral relations to broader levels.
Abdullah Burj Rawal, the head of the South Sudan delegation, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated South Sudan's eagerness to strengthen ties with Libya. He emphasized the desire to benefit from Libyan expertise across various fields to serve the interests of both nations.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to maintaining ongoing communication and facilitating the exchange of official visits, which will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing joint cooperation, and supporting stability and development in both countries. The discussion included the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs appointed by the House of Representatives, alongside several officials from South Sudan.
