Ajilat Murders: Suspect Detained for Series of Brutal Killings

Ajilat: The Attorney General has announced the detention of an individual suspected of committing five murders in the city of Ajilat.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has disclosed that criminal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect for the murders that occurred in 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2020. The office detailed that the Public Prosecutor has thoroughly reviewed the evidence collection records, which include proof of the circumstances linking the accused, identified as A. B., to these heinous crimes. Additionally, the suspect is alleged to have been involved in arson attacks on the homes of certain Ajilat residents back in 2011, acts believed to be motivated by the victims’ political views.

The investigative process involved confronting the accused with the gathered evidence following his arrest by the Tripoli Security Directorate. During interrogation, he reportedly made statements about his involvement in a gang that was engaged in the smuggling of illegal migrants. The authorities have ordered his detention as the investigation continues.
