Sirte: AFRICOM has announced the organization of its annual special forces exercise, Flintlock 2026, in Sirte, Libya, with participation from security forces across all Libyan regions and Italy. Lieutenant General John Brennan, Deputy Commander of AFRICOM, made this announcement in Sirte, highlighting the importance of the exercise for enhancing regional security cooperation.
According to Libyan News Agency, the US Embassy in Libya stated that Flintlock aims to enhance coordination and joint capabilities among allies and partners through joint command and control in counterterrorism operations. The exercise represents a significant opportunity for participating nations to work together in addressing security challenges.
AFRICOM expressed its honor in hosting part of the exercise in Sirte, acknowledging the city’s history of strong security cooperation with the United States in counterterrorism efforts.
