Tripoli, The US military command in Africa “Africom” affirmed its support for a political solution in Libya, and excluded the hypothesis of a military solution to the Libyan crisis.
Africom tweeted today that it supported diplomatic efforts and the political track that leads Libya to stability and unity, and the holding of elections on December 24.
The Africom statement comes a month after the visit of the commander of the US military command in Africa, General Stephen Townsend, to the capital, Tripoli, in which he announced his support for the ceasefire agreement, withdrawal of all foreign forces and fighters and unification of the military institution.
