Tripoli: The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has urged all active parties in Libya to de-escalate tensions and engage in dialogue, emphasizing the importance of national responsibility.
According to Libyan News Agency, Aboul Gheit expressed his deep concern over the recent armed clashes in the capital, Tripoli. These confrontations have caused significant distress among civilians, endangered the lives of residents, and disrupted the daily activities in the city.
The Secretary-General stressed that the recurring nature of these unfortunate events underscores the urgent necessity for a comprehensive national consensus. Such a consensus is crucial to fulfilling the aspirations of the Libyan people for security and stability.
Aboul Gheit reiterated the Arab League’s commitment to its responsibilities towards Libya. He emphasized the organization’s support for all efforts directed at resolving the crisis through a peaceful and inclusive Libyan-led solution.
