Tripoli, 11 October 2022 (Lana) Vice President of Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received on Tuesday the Ambassador of Canada to Libya, Isabel Savard, to discuss the developments of the political process in Libya. During the meeting, which was held at the Presidential Council office in Tripoli, they discussed difficulties facing the political process, international and local efforts to resolve the current crisis, and ways to reach fair and transparent elections, in accordance with a legal framework agreed upon by all parties.

Al Lafi stressed that success of the national reconciliation project is linked to the preparation of a national charter agreed upon by Libyans, and that the issuance of the national reconciliation law after presenting it to the legislative authority will help to implement this national project. For her part, the Canadian Ambassador praised the efforts of the Presidential Council in launching the strategic vision of the reconciliation project, renewing the support of her country’s government for all efforts aimed at stabilizing Libya.
