Abdullah Al-Lafi, Member Of The Presidential Council Says “Our Positions Are Clear And Firm Regarding Unification Of The Military Institution”.

Tripoli, Abdullah Al-Lafi, member of the Presidential Council – the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army – warned that the path to building peace in Libya begins with respecting what the Libyans have agreed upon, sponsored by the United Nations and approved by the House of Representatives, which is the outcome of the political dialogue forum, that produced the executive authority and its powers in this preliminary stage.

The member of the Presidential Council said in a statement to the Libyan News Agency “We in the Presidential Council are serious and determined to make the files of national reconciliation and the unification of the military institution a success, in preparation for holding the elections on their specified date”, “Removing the danger of war from the country is one of our first responsibilities, which requires that all military forces be united under the umbrella of a civilian command”. Al-Lafi added,

“We have clear positions regarding the unification of the military institution, and the matter cannot be left in chaos or security disarray from any armed formations or procedures that are not subject to civilian authority” He went on to say.

He underscored their responsibilities to protect the people and the country from the dangers of war and chaos.

At the conclusion of his statement to (Lana), the member of the Presidential Council called on the political dialogue forum to work to support the implementation of the road map and not to leave room for individual whims that transcend these national consensuses.

Al-Lafi also called on the UN mission, and the countries sponsoring the Berlin Agreement, and the local consensus that followed, to play their positive and real role for the success of the road map, unifying institutions and confronting without hesitation, those who obstruct the political process.
