Tripoli: Presidential Council Member Abdullah Al-Lafi received the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Idar Aganin, in a meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and discussing Libya’s political developments and future processes. The discussions emphasized the significance of diplomatic efforts in resolving the Libyan crisis.
According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Lafi highlighted the Presidential Council’s dedication to a political solution as the key to ending the ongoing crisis in Libya. He emphasized the importance of unifying international efforts and continuing with existing political frameworks, such as the Berlin process, to achieve a comprehensive settlement that facilitates elections and fosters enduring stability and peace in the country.
Al-Lafi also conveyed the council’s desire for a more impactful international and regional engagement to support national reconciliation and build trust among different Libyan factions.
Ambassador Idar Aganin reaffirmed Russia’s full backing of the Presidential Council’s initiatives to progress the political agenda. He praised the council’s significant role in enabling national dialogue and encouraging consensus among Libyan parties.
The Russian ambassador also expressed strong support for the United Nations Support Mission’s endeavors in Libya.
