United Nations is following up on armed moves in Libya and calling for refraining from provocations

New York- UN Secretary-General spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in the daily briefing at the international organization’s headquarters here that the UN mission in Libya is following with concern and closely reports on mobilization of troops and movements of large convoys of armed groups that have raised tensions in and around Tripoli.

UNSMIL calls on all parties to refrain from any action that would lead to armed clashes, and urges all parties to cooperate with the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser, Stephanie Williams, in the ongoing efforts to find a negotiated way out of the current political impasse, Dujarric quoted Williams as saying:

“She urged restraint and stressed need to refrain from provocative actions in word and deed, including the mobilization of troops,” Dujarric quoted Chancellor Stephanie Williams as saying.

She renewed her offer to take advantage of the good offices of the United Nations to mediate and help Libyans find consensus and a way forward, Dujarric said.
