Turkey Offers Condolences to Egypt over Zagazig Train Collision Victims


Turkey offered condolences to Egypt for the victims of the train collision in Zagazig that occurred on Saturday.

The collision occurred between passenger train No. 281, traveling from Zagazig to Ismailia, and passenger train No. 336, traveling from Mansoura to Zagazig, near Block 5 in the city of Zagazig on Saturday afternoon, according to the Egyptian Railway Authority (ERA).

In a statement recently issued by the Turkish Embassy in Cairo, it said: “We received with great sadness and sorrow the news of the deaths of three people and the injuries of many others in the train accident that occurred in Zagazig.”

“We offer our condolences to the friendly and sisterly country of Egypt, the families, and relatives of the victims. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” it added.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, three people were killed and 49 others were injured in the accident.

The ministry revealed that the injured were transferred to hospitals in Sharkiya Governorate. It also reported t
hat the condition of 44 is stable and that they are likely to be discharged within the next few hours. Five injured remain, however, in an unstable condition.
