The Tunisian Foreign Minister reviews with the US ambassadors to Tunisia and Libya the Libyan political track.

Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar reviewed today, Tuesday, with the US Ambassador to Tunisia, Joey Hood, and the US Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, the political track in Libya.

According to a statement by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Ammar” affirmed Tunisia’s firm position on the need for the Libyan-Libyan solution to be within a framework of consensus and with Libyan ownership and leadership under the auspices of the United Nations.

During the meeting, the two American diplomats appreciated the positive role played by Tunisia to advance the political track in Libya and its hosting of many meetings between Libyans as a contribution to encouraging and supporting dialogue between the various Libyan parties.

The meeting also dealt with the close historical relations between Tunisia and the United States of America, and reviewed the various aspects of bilateral cooperation relations and ways to further strengthen and diversify them to include new fields, in addition to further coordinating the positions of the two countries with regard to regional and international issues of common concern.
