The House of Representatives participates in the meetings of the Implementation Plan of the Model Law on Food Security in Africa held in South Africa.

Member of the House of Representatives and member of the Agriculture and Rural Economy Committee of the African Parliament, “Youssef Al-Fakhri”, participated in the committee meeting held in the Republic of South Africa.

The meeting discussed developing a model plan with key partners such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the African Union Development Agency, to implement the application of the Model Law on Food Security in Africa.

This law – which was subject to extensive consultations at the regional level, including North, South, East, Central and West Africa – will contribute to enhancing food security throughout the continent.

This law was adopted in the session of the African Parliament in its regular session last May, and during the previous session, the model law was officially announced to become a binding law for all member states.

It is worth noting that the meeting of the Agriculture and Rural Economy Committee comes on the sidelines of the sessions of the Afri
can Parliament in the Republic of South Africa for the sixth parliament in its third session.
