Presidential Council holds extensive meeting with ambassadors of countries supporting the country’s political process

Tripoli- The Presidential Council on Wednesday held an extensive meeting with a number of ambassadors of countries accredited to Libya who support the political process and stability of the country.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on consensual constitutional rule and the Presidential Council said it supported any initiative that would enable the general elections to be held as soon as possible.

Presidential Council spokesman Najwa Wahiba explained that the meeting brought together the Presidency Council and ambassadors of countries supporting the Berlin 1-2 track as the path that gained international support and was backed by Security Council resolutions as well as local acceptance.

She said the meeting discussed ways to support the initiative of UN Secretary-General Special Adviser on Libya Stephanie Williams on how much progress has been made and putting in place a consensual constitutional rule, stressing the support of the Presidential Council for any initiative that enables the holding of general elections as soon as possible, to build on the gains of what has been achieved in the past period and to hold elections.
