Moroccan, Bahraini Ombudsman Institutions Sign MoU

Marrakech – A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday in Marrakech between the Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Secretariat General of Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the 11th session of the Board of Directors of the Association of Ombudsmen and Mediators of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Signed by the Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Benalilou and the Secretary General of Ombudsman of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ghada Hamid Habib, the agreement reflects both institutions’ desire to work towards the development of fruitful cooperation that meets their aspirations and takes account of their common interests, and represents a reference framework for cooperation and the means to achieve the objectives set by both parties.

The MoU aims to exchange information on complaints and grievances examined by both parties within the scope of what is permitted by their statutes, to organize activities to share experiences, exp
ertise and capacity building, and to exchange working visits with the aim of studying and learning more about various experiences related to their areas of intervention.

It also aims to coordinate and support the actions and positions of both parties within regional and international networks and organizations, to draw up joint programs and projects on subjects of common interest linked to their fields of intervention, and to work towards their implementation, as well as to draw up and carry out visit programs and training and capacity-building sessions with the aim of sharing experiences and exchanging expertise at bilateral or multilateral level.

The MoU also provides for holding joint practical and research meetings and workshops, as well as organizing conferences, seminars and scientific and practical training sessions to enhance the performance of both institutions.
