Minister of Trade arrives in Baku at the head of an investment delegation

Minister of Trade Athir Dawood Al-Ghurairi arrived in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, on Monday, on an official visit, at the head of a high-level delegation that includes an elite group of Iraqi businessmen and investors, the head of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, and the Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations in the Ministry.

Al-Ghurairi said in a statement: “Our visit to Baku came to hold bilateral talks with the Azerbaijani side to enhance ways of economic and trade cooperation, increase the volume of trade exchange, and open new horizons for joint cooperation.”

He pointed out that “the delegation will hold – on the sidelines of the visit – intensive bilateral meetings with senior officials in the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy; to discuss the available opportunities to establish real partnerships between businessmen from both sides, in addition to focusing on taking advantage of the geographical proximity between Iraq and Azerbaijan to enhance economic cooperati
on.”

Al-Ghurairi stressed the importance of this visit in opening new horizons for cooperation between the two countries, noting that ‘Iraq seeks to increase the volume of trade exchange and attract more foreign investments, in a way that serves the interests of the Iraqi economy.
