Jordanian monarch warns of the consequences of dangerous escalation in the region

Jordanian monarch King Abdullah II warned on Friday of the consequences of dangerous escalation in the region.

During his meeting with Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, he stressed the need to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as a first step to stop the escalation, noting that the Zionist attacks in the West Bank must stop, including attacks by extremist settlers, and violations of holy sites in Al-Quds.

King Abdullah II renewed his call to strengthen the international response to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, stressing the importance of protecting workers in relief organizations to enable them to carry out their role.

He also called on the international community to continue supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), to enable it to carry out its humanitarian role, within its international mandate.
