HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa attends opening of military hospital school

Manama, Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Wife of His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Injaz Bahrain Chairperson, attended the opening of the Military Hospital School at the children’s ward and clinic of the hospital, which is part of a joint initiative between the Royal Medical Services and the Bahrain Trust Foundation (BTF).

The Military Hospital School provides education to children during their hospital stay, enabling them to continue their studies and daily activities, which positively impacts their treatment and academic progress.

HH Shaikha Hessa praised Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), for supporting this initiative. She highlighted the collaboration between the Royal Medical Services and the BTF, creating an environment equipped with modern learning tools to benefit children receiving medical care.

HH Shaikha Hessa noted that continuing education for
pediatric patients greatly improves their mental wellbeing, speeding up their recovery. It also strengthens their determination and reassures their families about their educational future. She expressed her hope that the success of this initiative at the military hospital would inspire other healthcare institutions in Bahrain to follow suit, aligning with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision to invest in human capital and education.

Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Commander of the Royal Medical Services, stated that the school was opened to improve the experience of child patients whose health conditions had previously hindered their education. He affirmed that this initiative sets a valuable example of Bahrain’s commitment to providing an inclusive educational environment for all sectors of society, including sick children, ensuring their academic and professional aspirations are supported.

On her part, Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Balooshi, Chairperson of the BTF, expressed pride
in opening the foundation’s third hospital school, a result of the collaboration between government institutions and generous Bahraini donors.

She emphasised that the project reflects BTF’s dedication to supporting children’s education and development, especially in the face of health challenges.

Al Balooshi added that combining education and healthcare offers children the opportunity to continue their learning while receiving medical care, extending her gratitude to the Commander of the Royal Medical Services for his strong support in implementing the project.

The Military Hospital School, run by the BTF, began operations at the children’s ward of King Hamad University Hospital in 2022, receiving positive feedback from patients and their families.
