FM probes measures to establish Magdi Yacoub Center Rwanda – Egypt for Cardiac Surgery


Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Sunday with Dr. Magdi Yacoub, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, at the start of his visit to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda.

The foreign minister arrived in Kigali on Sunday to take part in the inauguration ceremony of Rwandan President Paul Kagame upon the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

On his X account, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said Abdelatty discussed with Dr Yacoub measures to establish Magdi Yacoub Center Rwanda – Egypt for Cardiac Surgery.

Egypt’s top diplomat expressed appreciation for the distinguished relations binding the two countries, hoping to further develop them.

The foreign minister will hold, during the visit, a number of meetings with participating officials in the inauguration ceremony including the Rwandan ministers of foreign affairs and health.

He will also meet members of Egyptian community and take part in a roundtable meeting with Rwandan businessm
en and representatives of the private sector.
