Egypt’s chemical industry exports achive $4M durinh H1 of 2024


During the initial half of 2024, Egypt’s chemical industry exports achieved $4 million, constituting 20% of the nation’s total non-oil exports, as per a report from the Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council.

Plastic exports for the same period totaled around $1.198 billion, displaying a 3% growth compared to 2023, with plastics constituting 29% of the total chemical industry exports.

The report also highlights that approximately 164 countries worldwide are involved in importing these goods.

The Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council aims to streamline trade processes and bolster Egyptian enterprises in their global expansion endeavors.

The sector boasts over 9,877 companies with a combined capital of $11.68 billion, according to the council’s Chairman, Khaled Abul Makarem.

Abul Makarem noted that the industrial output surpassed $9 billion in 2023, with annual domestic consumption reaching $4.2 billion.

In a recent development, the Council revealed plans for a trade mission to Taiwan, with ten Egypt
ian companies participating in an exhibition scheduled from September 24-27.
