Al-Samarrai stresses the need to work to spare Iraq the dangers of regional events

The Head of the Azm Alliance, Muthanna Al-Samarrai, stressed today, Monday, the need to “work to spare Iraq the dangers of regional events.”

A statement by the Alliance’s media said that Al-Samarrai “received at his residence in Samarra today, the Croatian Ambassador to Iraq, Ivan Borch, and discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation in various fields.”

According to the statement, Al-Samarrai stressed “the historical and religious importance of the city of Samarra, which enjoys the attention of the Islamic world due to its religious status and the presence of holy shrines. He also reviewed the challenges facing the city, especially during the period of terrorism.”

He added that “the Samarra, Capital of Civilization Committee, which he chairs, is working to implement important infrastructure projects, despite all the procedural circumstances and difficulties,” noting “the great support from the Prime Minister for these efforts.

He explained that “Samarra was the first city visited by the Prime Minister
after assuming his duties.”

He stressed the importance of solidarity with what is happening in Gaza and Lebanon, calling for strengthening relations with the international community, including the United States, the United Nations, and the European Union, in addition to Arab and neighboring countries.

For his part, the Croatian Ambassador expressed his “happiness after the tour he conducted of a number of archaeological and historical sites in the city of Samarra, expressing his admiration for the cultural and historical richness of the city, referring to the distinguished relations between the two countries, and expressing his hope for an upcoming visit by the Prime Minister to Croatia,

He stressed his country’s readiness to develop an action plan to support projects in the region, while referring to ongoing understandings with the Iraqi government regarding strengthening economic cooperation.”
