Al-Lafi reviews with British Ambassador to Libya ways to advance the political process, to reach a solution to the Libyan crisis

Tripoli- The Vice President of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed, during his meeting, Wednesday, with the British Ambassador to Libya, Caroline Horndal, developments of the political process in Libya, and the efforts of the United Kingdom to support stability in Libya.

The meeting reviewed ways to advance the political process, to reach a solution to the Libyan crisis, by working on setting a constitutional basis for conducting elections as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the Vice-President of the Presidential Council stressed the need to restore the election momentum, in response to the aspirations of the Libyans who registered their names on the voter lists, noting the importance of the initiative of the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, on agreeing on a legal framework for the success of the elections, as a solution to the crisis, which he welcomed.

For her part, the British ambassador expressed her country’s full support for all Libyan and international efforts to promote stability in all parts of Libya, noting the importance of preparing the constitutional basis for the upcoming elections, praising the role of the Presidential Council in unifying state institutions and bringing together the parties in the political process.
