Al-Aqouri and the Swiss Ambassador discuss the latest developments related to the political aspect, the crisis of the Central Bank of Libya, and the national reconciliation file.

Tripoli: The head of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee in the House of Representatives, “Youssef Al-Aqouri”, met with the Ambassador of the Swiss Republic to Libya, “Joseph Ringli”, and his accompanying delegation.

According to the spokesman for the House of Representatives, “Abdullah Blihaq” in a press statement today, Tuesday, the meeting discussed the latest developments related to the political aspect, the crisis of the Central Bank of Libya, and the national reconciliation file.

For his part, Al-Aqouri stressed the keenness to work with the Swiss side on the human rights file, reviewing the efforts of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee in working on the file of immigration and vulnerable groups and enhancing freedoms and citizenship rights in accordance with national laws and constants, and pushing work on the reconciliation file, indicating the formation of an administrative team from the House of Representatives’ office to work on the human rights fi
le by reviewing the issued international reports and working with the relevant executive bodies in order to determine the institutional needs related to capacity building to enhance this important file.

The head of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee called for opening the Swiss embassy in Tripoli and the consulate in Benghazi, and facilitating travel procedures for Libyans, especially since Switzerland is the headquarters of a number of international organizations in which Libya is a member, according to the same source.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed on the need to enhance communication and coordination for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.
