Ahly started their CAF Champions League campaign with a commanding 3-0 win over Gor Mahia FC at Nyayo National Stadium in Kenya in the first leg of the second preliminary round on Sunday.
Veteran defender Rami Rabia opened the scoring just 14 minutes into the game, capitalizing on a precise cross from winger Hussein El-Shahat.
South Africa’s winger Percy Tau took advantage of a defensive error to double Ahly’s lead a minute later.
Tau then sealed the victory with a well-taken goal in the 74th minute.
Despite playing away, Ahly dominated the match, missing several opportunities that could have further secured their position for the second leg in Cairo next week.
