Lebanon Asks Iraq To Send Air Traffic Controllers To Manage Air Navigation At Beirut Airport

The Ministry of Transport revealed the Lebanese Air Navigation’s request to send Iraqi air traffic controllers, for the purpose of managing air traffic at Beirut Airport and training Lebanese air traffic controllers in the company’s air navigation center.

A statement from the Ministry’s media office stated, “A delegation from Lebanese Air Navigation recently visited the headquarters of the General Company for Air Navigation Services (one of the departments of the Ministry of Transport) to set the initial frameworks for the cooperation mechanism between the two parties.”

The statement quoted the company’s general manager, Abbas Sabbar Al-Baydhani, as saying: “We discussed with the Lebanese delegation its request to send Iraqi air traffic controllers for the purpose of managing air traffic at Beirut Airport,” stressing the company’s readiness to cooperate and meet the Lebanese side’s request.
