UN Spokesman: Berlin Conference, An Opportunity To Bring Together International Community To Assess Situation In Libya.

New York, UN Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the Secretary-General will address the Berlin Conference on Libya on 23 June via videoconference, and his Special Envoy for Libya and also Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya Jan Kupis will participate in person.

‘The Conference will be an important opportunity to bring the international community together to take stock of the current situation in Libya and offer support to Libyans with regard to preparations for the conduct of national elections on Dec. 24, and will focus on withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries from the country, as well as steps towards the reunification of key Libyan institutions, the Spokesman said.

Berlin, 1 Conference was attended by 12 countries, which included the US, Russia, France, Britain, China, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Egypt, UAE, Algeria, Congo, UN, EU, AU and the Arab League.
