Tripoli-US Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya Richard Norland expressed his pleasure to participate in the plenary session of the Security Working Group on Libya held yesterday in Tunis.

The U.S. Embassy in Libya quoted Ambassador Norland as saying, “I was pleased to participate in the meeting and the United States supports UN envoy Bathily and Libyan military professionals in their efforts to remove foreign troops, fighters and mercenaries and unify the Libyan army.

“Libyans deserve a unified army capable of defending Libya’s sovereignty, and a democratically elected government that represents all Libyans,” the U.S. ambassador said in two tweets published by the embassy on its Twitter website, expressing his country’s aspiration to partner with “such an army under the civilian authority of such a government.”
