The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government meets a number of female activists and human rights defenders.

Tripoli, The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, “Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba” met this Sunday evening with a number of Libyan activists and human rights defenders to discuss issues related to Libyan women, and the latest developments in political affairs.

Al-Dbaiba stressed that the role of women is prominent and important, and it is necessary that their active participation in the political field through elections, progress and competition for parliamentary seats to be represented by the most capable and efficient women so that this representation supports the rest of the women.

The attendees also praised the Prime Minister’s enabling a number of women to hold high and sovereign positions for the first time in the history of Libya, calling for more on various levels and fields.

In another context, a number of attendees expressed their dismay at the discrimination against Libyan women married to non-Libyans, as well as their children, expressing their encouragement for the Prime Minister’s decisions to address this matter.

They also stressed the need for women to actively participate in national reconciliation and the need for the displaced to return to their cities, with the need to redress the material and moral damage they have suffered.
